For attorneys and legal teams
Every investigator's work, in one secure place.
When your investigators use PIToolkit, you get one portal for case status, the reports and files they release to you, and encrypted messages tied to each case. Free for clients, always.
PIToolkit is in development and not open to the public yet.
Invited to a portal?
It's your investigator's client portal.
PIToolkit isn't open yet, so genuine portal invitations aren't being sent. If you receive one before then, don't sign in through it: forward it to hello@pitoolkit.com and we'll tell you whether it's real.
Your investigator runs the case in PIToolkit and has given you access so you don't have to chase attachments. The invitation carries their firm's name. It's free, and one account covers every investigator who invites you.
Accepting an invitation, signing in, and keeping your account safe
Case updates without the email attachments.
One sign-in across investigators
Every case an investigator who uses PIToolkit has invited you to is in the same account, each under that investigator's own branding.
Status without the phone call
Each case's phase, when it was last updated, and a timeline of what the investigator has chosen to share. Never their private working notes.
Reports and files in one place
Finished reports as branded PDFs, alongside the evidence items your investigator releases to you.
Messages tied to the case
Each case has its own encrypted thread with the investigator, so questions and answers stay with the case instead of on someone's personal phone.
A heads-up before access ends
When a case closes, your investigator sets how long you keep access, and you're told before it ends so you can download what you need.
Sensitive and privileged work
Case material that isn't readable on a vendor's server.
Case material in PIToolkit is encrypted in the investigator's browser before it leaves their device, and what's released to you is encrypted to your portal account's key and opened in your browser. PIToolkit's servers store ciphertext. We can't read the reports, files or messages in your portal, and neither can our staff.
If PIToolkit is ever served with a legal demand, we can only produce what we hold: ciphertext, and the limited account and operational details listed on our security page.
That's a statement about how the software is built, not legal advice about privilege, confidentiality, work product or discovery. Your own counsel is the right judge of what it means for a matter.
Evidence you can account for
A record of each file, built as the investigator uploads it.
What the chain catches
Every file gets a SHA-256 fingerprint, computed in the investigator's browser and stored encrypted. Each item in a case is linked to the one before it, and the head of the chain is signed by the investigator, so someone with write access to our database can't alter or insert an item without the verification showing it. A removed item leaves a signed marker, not a gap.
The one limit today
Someone who kept an older chain head the investigator really signed could put it back and cut off the newest items, and verification would still show the shorter chain as intact. Catching that is Planned.
Investigators can export an evidence package: the files, a verification report checking each one against the chain, each item's capture details, and the signatures showing who added it. Ask your investigator for it when a file's history matters. Whether a court admits it is a question for you.
Trusted third-party timestamping (RFC 3161) is Planned. Today's timestamps come from PIToolkit and the investigator's device. How evidence integrity works.
For firms reviewing a new vendor.
We'll answer security questionnaires plainly, including what we don't have yet.
- Security: what we can and can't see, and the limits
- Security contact: security@pitoolkit.com
- Sub-processor list and data processing addendum Planned before launch
- No SOC 2, ISO or other third-party certification, audit report or penetration test today, and we won't claim one until it exists
Software, not an investigation firm.
PIToolkit is software that investigators use to run their cases. We don't perform investigations. Questions about a case go to your investigator.
Already have a portal account?
Not yet: the client portal opens with PIToolkit's private Beta.
