About
Built for what's at stake in a case file.
PIToolkit is built by CitrusCS LLC, a small security-focused software company, with input from working investigators.
Why it exists
Solo investigators and small firms don't usually lose clients because they're worse investigators. They lose them because they can't present like a larger firm: case notes in one app, evidence in a shared drive, updates by text message, reports assembled by hand, and billing somewhere else again.
That patchwork is also a security problem most investigators don't see. Case files hold some of the most sensitive material anyone keeps about another person, and most of the tools they pass through were never built for it.
PIToolkit puts the case, the evidence, the client and the report in one place, and encrypts it in your browser before it reaches us, so the company running it can't read it.
What we believe
- We'd rather be unable to read your files than promise not to. A policy can change; an architecture has to be rebuilt. Here's the architecture.
- Security is never an upgrade. Encryption, two-factor sign-in, recovery keys and the evidence hash chain are on the Free plan too.
- Say what's built, and what isn't. Everything on this site that isn't built yet carries a label saying so.
- Working investigators decide what ships first. A PI telling us "that's not how the job works" is worth more than a hundred sign-ups.
What we're not
PIToolkit is software for private investigators. We're not an investigations firm: we don't take cases, locate people or conduct surveillance, and nothing in the product does either. Licensing is yours to hold; PIToolkit doesn't verify it and doesn't make anyone compliant with a state's rules.
The company
- CitrusCS LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company.
- PIToolkit is in development and not yet open to customers.
- When it opens, it's planned to run on Amazon Web Services in the United States Planned. We'll publish the full list of services that process data for us before anyone's data is on them.
