For firms

Built for solo investigators first. Firms are next.

PIToolkit's team features aren't built yet. Here's what a small firm can do with it today, what the Firm plan is designed to add, and how to help shape it.

PIToolkit is in development and not open yet. The Firm plan is planned for a later phase.

Works today

  • Each investigator on their own account
  • The firm's branding on every account's reports and portal
  • One client sign-in across all your investigators

Firm plan Planned

  • Shared cases
  • An owner's view
  • Assigning work
  • Roles
  • Firm-wide branding and pooled storage

What works for a firm today

Each investigator on their own account.

  • Each investigator runs their own caseload on a Free, Solo or Professional account, with the same encryption and evidence hashing on every plan.
  • One look for every report. Each account sets its own logo and colours, so everyone at the firm can use the firm's branding on reports and in the client portal.
  • Clients see everything in one place. An attorney or adjuster who works with several of your investigators signs in once and sees every case they've been invited to.

What doesn't work yet: investigators can't share a case, and there's no owner view across everyone's cases. If that's what you need today, a product built for teams will suit you better for now. Questions to ask any vendor.

The case list in PIToolkit's development build. Filters for status, type, last activity and client sit above five case cards, among them “Claim 4471 — slip and fall” (Active), “Harbor Street matter” (Closed) and “Pre-hire check — T. Ellison” (Inquiry), each with its case number, case type and last activity.

The Firm plan Planned

What it's designed to add.

These come from our product plan. They're not built, and details may change.

Shared cases
Several investigators on one case, each with their own keys. The design keeps the same rule as today: PIToolkit can't read case content.
An owner's view
Every active case across the firm, who's on it, hours logged and portal activity.
Assigning work
Give a new case to the investigator with room for it.
Roles
Owner, Admin, Investigator, Assistant and Subcontractor, so an assistant can handle billing without seeing evidence, and a subcontractor sees only the case they're on, until you revoke it.
Firm-wide branding and pooled storage
Branding set once for everyone, and storage pooled across the firm's seats.

Before the Firm plan launches, we'll publish exactly how firm access to an investigator's cases works, including what the firm owner can and can't open.

Why it's taking longer

Team access has to be built into the encryption.

When a server can decrypt case data, giving a firm owner access to every case is a permissions setting. PIToolkit's servers can't decrypt case data, so team access has to be designed into the encryption itself. That's why we'd like to hear how your firm actually hands cases around before we build it.

Planned pricing

Firm: $49 per seat per month, minimum 3 seats. Planned

A planned price that may change before launch. We're working out how pricing should work for larger teams, and your survey answers feed into that. Until then, each investigator can use Free or Solo ($29 per month).

Common questions from firms

Can my investigators start on their own accounts and move to the Firm plan later?

That's the intent, but the migration path isn't built yet, so we won't promise the details. Tell us you're interested and we'll talk it through.

Will the firm owner be able to read every investigator's cases?

That's one of the design questions for the Firm plan. Whatever we decide, we'll publish it before launch, so everyone at the firm knows who can open what.

When will the Firm plan launch?

We don't have a date to share. It comes after the solo product is open and stable.
